Today we had a bit of a late start (due to some extensive partying the night before) and so we didn’t reach Palmyra, NY until the early afternoon (about 2PM). We were there for quite awhile, first at the Hill Cumorah and then at Joseph Smith’s House and the Sacred Grove. At the Hill Cumorah we saw the work crew putting together everything for the Hill Cumorah Pageant that will start next week. We also watched a pretty amazing video about the life of Joseph Smith (I personally think it is the best/well made church movie thus far). That was a really great experience. After that grandma and I hiked up the hill. That was really neat and we saw the statue of Moroni they have there. Unfortunately it started to rain… or rather pour. Needless to say, we got a bit wet (or a lot…) We then all got in the car and drove a couple of miles to the site of Joseph Smith’s house and the Sacred Grove. We went on a tour which was really neat. During this tour Jordan and I were true Oregonians and toughed it out in the rain while the rest of the crew hid under umbrellas. There was also this other family and Meagan said that I should meet the guy who was a part of the family and fall in love with/go to BYU with him… it would have been an epic love story. Alas I was soaking wet with a white shirt on so I had to kind of hide from view. He was cute though… Anyhow after the tour we walked through the Sacred Grove which was a great experience. It is something that has to be experienced, not just explained. It just felt right, if that makes any sense at all. Now we are driving to Carlisle, MA where Meagan lives and we will be staying there for a few days. We love you all and hope you are having a fantastic summer so far. Love you! (P.s. I wrote this last night, we arrived safely at the Stutz's last night)

  1. Oh, Canada. Did you know that in 1975, Coca Cola's annual production of soda equalled the amount of water over Niagra Falls in 15 min.? Glad you all had fun. Bindie wants you all to know she misses your lips and ears terribly.
Enjoy New England for me. I have ALWAYS wanted to go there. This part of the trip makes me green with envy. Love to all, AL (my new nickname = Aunt Liz)
