Today, July 6, was an adventure, first with the driving and then with being in New York City. The driving was an adventure partially because we we’re in New York, but mostly because between driving 2 cars (Aunt Emily came down with us, as did Meagan) some getting lost and separated occurred. There were many phone calls and lots of direction giving by myself and Aunt Emily in order to ensure that everyone made it to the Navy Lodge ok. The Navy Lodge was where we stayed last night (a huge thank you to Uncle Jeffery Stutz! and his wife Emily for providing us with these accommodations.) Located on a Coast Guard Base, it provided a great place to sleep and where grandpa’s bikes would be safe an secure (which really is the most important thing, haha.) Anyhow after unloading the car we all drove over to the Staten Island Ferry where we hopped on and went over to the city. As we were crossing we had the great opportunity to see the Queen Mary 2 luxury ship heading out to sea, just as we were passing the Statue of Liberty. It was really a great view. Once we got over to the city we just had a great time. We started out by all going over to the WTC memorial/ground zero. Following that the little kids and Emily ad Grandma went off on their own, and Grandpa took the other kids around the city. We visited Times Square, Central Park, Grand Central Station, and the UN Building. Then Meagan, Jordan, and Adam went off to Times Square to hang out while Grandpa and I went to Washington Square Park/NYU and then to the Empire State Building. We went up to the top of the Empire State Building – you could literally see everything in any direction for at least 50 miles. Everyone also got some good experience with the Subway system in New York. Later we all met up again at the Staten Island Ferry to head back to the hotel. All in all it was a tiring but extremely fun. We hope you all are doing well and having a fun summer!
